COLLECT THE NFT - SPIRIT FLIGHT by Samantha Rochard - THE ONLY ONE to be minted ever.

Recently an NFT collector who was scanning works on FineArt America came across my works and requested that I mint some of them for NFT's and he would purchase them. Well look…… first thing that ran through my mind was that this was a scam.

Yuh know how Trinis suspicious of anything too tech! After much thought and twisting the issue in meh head I realized that I really have nothing to lose….at least I hope not… I eh see it yet. So I went ahead in meh full ignorance and minted the requested images on a Platform called Axies Collect. First time I ever heard of a crypto currency called ETHEREUM. I am learning as I go along.

Any who……., this is a new thing for me to try and I really hope I can figure this Sales process out, being the Sales person that I am on this little island of Trinidad and Tobago. The above image is SPIRIT FLIGHT. I can tell you the spirit in which it was painted.

I was in what I felt was a dead end Sales Job. In my teeeny tiny office, no bigger than 7 x 6 ft, I sat all day on the phone trying to sell newspaper advertising. I wasn’t bad at it. It just felt like soul sucking work. I wished for anything in the world to rescue me. And in that rescue, to be able to paint my life happy, days of creating and perhaps a cadre of loyal collectors that look out for my work and haggle to purchase.

That weekend I went home and painted SPIRIT FLIGHT, a wish to fly away from the box I found myself in. I also took it to work and placed it smack dab in the middle of my office wall. It commanded the office , literally vibrated freedom- and NO one could resist looking when they passed my open door. (Always open. I would have felt claustrophobic).

Any artist in the Caribbean who DID NOT have the benefit of an overseas Art Education FEEEEELLLSSS the choking reality of living on an island with TONS of creators and a small group of buyers. You also feel choked by the lack of distribution channels, thought provoking subject matter, limited materials….ahhhh you get the drift.

Words of manifestation must always be written in the present tense : I have wings, I fly.

It's on sale as an NFT here (crypto currency is ETH) :

Learning how to do this…. If anyone’s an expert and can suggest how to prospect and market NFT’s send me your advice at samantharochard1@gmail.com
